One of the defining elements at Orchard Vale is the quality of our staff. Many have worked with us for over 20 years and our current average length of service is over eight years, which is very unusual in the social care sector. As a result we have a consistent, reliable and knowledgeable workforce who we are very proud of. We believe we are good employers and we have a happy, highly skilled team.
We employ around 70 people, mainly front-line care staff. When they join us after undertaking an enhanced DBS check, every member of staff receives a full training and regular ongoing training updates.
We offer staff good working conditions, with good terms and conditions including family friendly policies, as well as generous holidays, regular staff support and an appraisal system. Although opportunities are limited by our size, many of our more senior staff have started as basic grade staff here.
But we are not resting on our laurels and we continue to improve our systems and the skills of our staff. In the last 12 months have renewed our IT systems, developed our own in-house easy-read staffing resource, and undertaken specialist dementia training. In the next 12 months all staff will be taking specific person-centred training delivered by Helen Sanderson Associates.
We are determined to continue to attract and support excellent staff.
