SOMERSET ART WEEKS
We welcome everyone to join us for the Somerset Art Weeks: Open Studios 2018
Somerset Open Studios 2018 is one of the largest events in the area for visual arts and artists. It showcases well known and established names as well as introducing new and emerging artists.
Orchard Vale Trust is taking part by showcasing incredible work by adults with learning disabilities at East Court and welcomes visitors to explore work spaces, studios and the range of art that has been produced this year.
From handmade cushions, to hand crafted jewellery, we are offering a chance to admire this beautiful work and to purchase it.
As an addition, this year we will be kicking off the Somerset Art Weeks by hosting tea and cakes on the lawn on Saturday the 15th from 11am to 5pm. Pease join us in raising a cuppa to our dedicated and talented artists!
Our opening times to visit the studios are:
Monday 17th – Friday 21st: 11am to 5pm
Monday 24th – Friday 28th: 11am to 5pm
We really look forward to seeing you!
Every year OVT holds a Barn Dance for everyone who engages with our services.
This year our very own Northcroft Manager, Jacqui, organised an incredible event to celebrate adults with learning disabilities across Somerset
Held at a small farm in Somerset, everyone contributed to a delicious feast, bringing foods of all kinds, shapes and forms. Once the DJ kicked off, blasting classic tunes from the stage, a sea of checked shirts and cowboy hats danced the day away.
To top it all off The Allerton Players handed over a generous contribution to OVT, for which all we can say is THANK YOU!
LEARNING DISABILITY AWARENESS WEEK
This year Learning Disability Week saw OVT partnering with the Wookey Hub, a small café down the road from our oldest Residential Home, East Court.
Our aim was to challenge the barriers that often restrict the lives of adults with learning disabilities. Public spaces are not always the most welcoming to people with different needs. Together with the Wookey Hub, we designed some activities that were held in the café, to encourage a wider sense of community and to challenge the stigma around adults with learning disabilities.
The activities included a Games Day and a Creative Workshop, as well as a little shop where we sold handmade trinkets and homegrown vegetables from our own gardens.
The positive response and encouraging engagement has inspired us to go big next year! With lots of plans up our sleeves, make sure you stay up to date with all upcoming events.
